Ten years of creating with the Swift community.
About ten years ago, I started building in public on Instagram. I’ve been creating and sharing things with the Swift community ever since.
That community was there before Crafter’s Lab. We were already making things, taking part in challenges, exchanging ideas and supporting one another’s work before there was a workshop platform.
The things we made together
The SwiftUI UI.C challenges, Apple Devs Lab and the things I’ve shared along the way are all part of that history. There were people creating and participating with me as the work evolved.
Some of you first found me on Instagram. Some supported my work on Patreon. Others joined as the Lab began to take shape. You arrived at different points, but you became part of the same continuing story.
Over the years, those relationships became friendships. The people I call O.G.s today are people I’ve come to know through that shared history. They’re friends now.
That’s what makes the recognition personal to me. I remember the people who supported me, and I want that relationship to carry into the next chapter of my work.
Giving the community a workshop
Eventually, I wanted to give that community a proper workshop. Somewhere we could bring our own projects, share what we were learning, compare approaches and help each other improve.
Crafter’s Lab grew from that. The platform gives the workshop a home, with resources, conversations and shared knowledge connected around the work.
Today, that work includes learning to build and run our own AI-native studios. The tools and possibilities have changed, and we keep learning through what we make. The community and relationships that grew around my work are part of the foundation we’re building on.
What O.G. means to me
O.G. is how I recognise the people who have been creating, supporting and taking part along the way.
When you see O.G. beside someone’s name, there is a person and a shared history behind it. It means they were part of the journey that brought us here.
If you took part in my SwiftUI UI.C challenges, were part of Apple Devs Lab, or supported my work on Patreon, you’re one of my O.G.s. Send me a DM on Instagram at @soloswiftcrafter. I’d love to reconnect.
A thank-you in the Lab
In the Lab, members with the lifetime Builder thank-you keep their Builder Pass and existing Slack access for life. There’s no recurring Builder payment required, and becoming a Founder is entirely optional. Their lifetime access stays theirs either way.
O.G. recognises our shared history. The access included for each person follows their existing arrangement. The Builder, Crafter and Founder guides explain what the current passes include.
The story continues
Crafter’s Lab is the next chapter of work I’ve been sharing for about ten years. I’m still building, still learning and still glad to have these people beside me.
The people who helped me get here remain part of my story as it grows. And if you’re new here, you’re welcome to bring your own work and become part of the conversation.
